You are cordially invited to participate in the 2nd National Libraries Summit, November 6-7, 2022, in Sharjah United Arab Emirates.

After a very successful inaugural National Libraries Summit last year, this year’s Summit will again bring together National Library leaders from around the world to discuss multiple topics of interest, including:

  • Strategic planning
  • Staff competencies and training,
  • Legal deposit in the digital age
  • Cybersecurity
  • Collaborative collection development

Each day two themed sessions with short presentations on trends, case studies, etc. followed by breakout networking discussions.

The National Library Summit is organized by the American Library Association and the Sharjah Book Authority in collaboration with IFLA’s National Libraries Section and the Arab Federation of Libraries and Information (AFLI).

Support and Activities

  • No registration fees
  • Invitation letters to assist with UAE visas
  • Four nights at a 4-star hotel for up to two participants from each National Library
  • Local transportation
  • Breakfast each day and lunches during the Summit
  • Cultural Evening and Dinner
  • Visit to Book Fair and libraries

Travel

The Emirate of Sharjah is right next to Dubai with the Dubai airport only 30 minutes from downtown Sharjah. (Airport transportation on arrival and departure will be provided)
